[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]
Flyleaf is a really awesome band for NUMEROUS reasons.
1)Female lead singer… who screams from time to time. Very cool.
2)Music about God that reaches broader audiences. I think since a main mission of the Christian faith is to spread the Good News, and since music is such a powerful tool for relaying messages, Flyleaf has got the right idea here.
3)Their music just sounds good.
“Again” is one of my fav. songs by them. Take a listen =]

So, I know what some of you are thinking. “How is she going to talk about all of these different subjects in relation to each other? What is her FOCUS?” Well, in my everyday life, these three subjects are constantly clashing or fitting together and I decided it was time to develop a forum in which I can really talk freely about these three passions of mine whenever the mood strikes.
Therefore yes, I will be blogging about the latest feminist crusade issue, I will be writing about the hottest songs on the radio, and I’ll be writing about the passages in the Bible that build me up.
But. I will also be writing about how music influences our perspectives of gender, more specifically how popular music has misogynist tendencies. I’ll write about my favorite Praise&Worship music, and my participation and experiences with the Inner Strength Gospel Choir of Boston University. I’ll write about how I compromise my religious and feminist standards with the temptation to break it on DOWN (technical terminology) to club hits that challenge those very standards. I’ll be blogging about gender roles as defined by the Bible and my struggle to find the balance between political and religious ideals.
There you have it. A nice little glimpse into my everyday brain flow.

If there is one message that echoes forth from this conference, it is that human rights are women’s rights - and women’s rights are human rights.

One of the best websites on the Internet.
This website is full of SO MUCH incite into everything feminist. Topics range from gender portrayal in the media, global health issues, gender-based legal battles both in the U.S. and abroad, and blog features about inspiring women and men who uplift and inspire the gender-conscious community.
Take a look! Don’t expect to be completely in love or hate with what the website has to offer.. just expect to be educated on issues that far too few of us care about!
